The Coalition to Stop CO2 Pipelines is fundraising to pay for legal fees associated with rule-making for CO2 pipelines. Eco-Justice Collaborative is serving as fiscal sponsor, and your contribution will be tax-deductible. And we have a donor willing to match the first $10K!!
We've been working with the Illinois Commerce Commission to create a strong rule to implement the portion of the SAFE CCS Act that regulates CO2 piplines (Carbon Dioxide Transportation and Sequestration Act). The Coalition has been successful in its recommendations thus far, but key safety provisions have been ommitted, and we have to ensure they are included in the rule. That is the ONLY way to ensure that any CO2 pipeline built in Illinois is kept far enough away from occupied buildings to either cause no harm or ensure occupants can be safely and successfully rescued.
We need $30K to $40K to pay for attorney fees. We need to raise $10K by July 22nd to secure the "match". Can you help us by donating what you can to ensure we receive these matching funds?
