Yesterday (7.25.22), Navigator Heartland Greenway LLC filed a petition with the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) to construct a dangerous CO2 pipeline through 13 Illinois counties despite overwhelming opposition from landowners, local governments, and agricultural and environmental advocates across Illinois.
I would ask the McDonough County Board to get more involved and talk to the landowners about Navigator’s CO2 pipeline. We don’t want it!
CO2 pipelines cause concerns. A rupture actually happened in 2020 near Satartia, Mississippi, sending nearly 50 people to the hospital and requiring the evacuation of 300.
Kathy Campbell, Glen Arm resident, received the letter threatening eminent domain she started doing a lot of research and learned CO2 pipelines are not safe.
Heartland Greenway is a money grab for the oil industry and is masquerading as the “green” project. It is anything but “green”.
Oppose the taxpayer subsidized CO2 pipelines proposed in Illinois that profit corporations, but places all the risks on landowners along its route.
